The selected material must therefore combine thermal performance with mechanical properties suitable for the intended floor construction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><strong>X-FOAM\u00ae HBD<\/strong> is an extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation board suitable for floor applications. The boards do not need to be fastened mechanically; all you need to do is lay them on the surface. The flooring is then laid on the insulating layer by applying adhesive mortar or a slab of at least 4 cm in thickness. In order to complete the floor, a desired coating layer is applied (partitions, slabs or simply treadable screed). Thanks to their near zero capillarity and to the fact that they do not absorb water,\u00a0 <strong>X-FOAM<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> <\/strong>boards do not require any protective layer against water that may be present in the concrete mix or overlapping layers.<\/p>","meta_avvertenze":"<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The insulation should be considered as part of the <strong>complete floor build-up<\/strong>, including the structural slab, any moisture or vapour-control layers, insulation, screed or load-distribution layer and final floor finish.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The required compressive performance depends on the <strong>loads acting on the floor and how these loads are distributed through the layers above the insulation<\/strong>. The compressive strength of the XPS board should therefore not be interpreted as the permissible design load of the complete floor.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The need for a <strong>vapour-control, damp-proof or waterproofing layer<\/strong> depends on the position of the floor, the substrate, moisture conditions and the hygrothermal design of the complete construction. The low water absorption of XPS does not automatically eliminate the need for these layers where they are required by the floor design.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The supporting surface should be sufficiently <strong>flat and stable<\/strong> to provide uniform support to the insulation boards and avoid concentrated stresses.<\/p>\r\nWhere partitions, heavy equipment or other concentrated loads are present, their effect on the complete floor build-up should be considered during
