INFILLS AND RENOVATIONS IN HUMID ROOMS

Thermal insulation of internal walls can be used during renovation to improve the thermal performance and internal surface conditions of existing walls, particularly where intervention on the external façade is not possible or practical.

Adding insulation to the internal side of a wall increases its internal surface temperature and reduces heat transfer through the building envelope. Under appropriate indoor temperature and humidity conditions, this can also help reduce the risk of surface condensation associated with cold internal surfaces.

In bathrooms, kitchens and other areas exposed to moisture, the insulation can be integrated into a suitable internal lining system designed to provide a stable substrate for subsequent finishing, including tiles, mosaics, plaster or other compatible finishes.

Internal insulation can also be used to create or renovate architectural elements such as shower enclosures, bathtub surrounds, partition walls and other interior constructions, provided that the selected materials and complete system are suitable for the intended environment.

Correct assessment of the existing wall and careful management of moisture, waterproofing and finishing layers are essential to ensure the performance of the completed construction.

Frequently asked questions - faq

Can both XPS and PIR be used for external wall insulation?

Yes, suitable XPS and PIR products can be incorporated into compatible external wall insulation systems. Product selection depends on thermal requirements, substrate, façade system and project-specific performance requirements.

Why is XPS suitable for below-ground wall insulation?

XPS combines low water absorption, thermal performance and high compressive strength, making it suitable for external insulation of below-ground walls exposed to soil and mechanical stresses.

What functions does POLIISO® TEGOLA combine in a pitched roof?

POLIISO® TEGOLA combines PIR thermal insulation, integrated metal tile-support profiles and openings for under-tile micro-ventilation in a single roofing element.

How does X-FOAM® EASY TEGOLA contribute to under-tile ventilation?

X-FOAM® EASY TEGOLA incorporates longitudinal grooves on its upper surface that create channels for under-tile micro-ventilation, while transverse grooves are designed to accommodate the tile arrangement.
